--President stresses meeting people’s economic, social needs

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi called food supply, health care, auto market, and housing market the four basic areas that demand attention, adding that the incumbent government is trying to meet the needs of Iranians in these areas.
Referring to the government’s slogan of “Strong Iran and Popular Administration”, Raeisi considered honoring the people as one of the main duties of his administration, according to president.ir.
As such, he ordered the statesmen and governors general to visit their subordinate offices regularly to see how the people’s work is being conducted and how the people are being treated.

-- Iran eyes $6-7 b in annual steel exports

Iran aims to meet a target of $6–7 billion in steel exports in the year to March 19, 2023, as the country ramps up domestic production amid a tight international market where demands for Iranian steel have kept rising.
A senior official from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said on Sunday that the country’s monthly steel exports had averaged 1 million metric tons (mt) worth $500 million in recent months. “We are trying to exceed the 10 million mt target in steel exports this Iranian calendar year (ending March 20, 2022) to generate $6–7 billion in hard currency revenues for the country,” IMIDRO’s Director of Economy and Investment Development Amir Sabbagh was quoted as saying.

--IRGC Chief: Our Drones Can Control Strategic Routes

The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said Monday Iran has acquired aerial vehicles that use artificial intelligence and can make an impact on strategic routes around the world.

“We do not threaten anyone, but rather defend our own national interests,” the commander added. Gen. Salami said the safest shipping lanes in the world are the one that Iranian-flagged ships navigate. The enemies are aware that they will have to pay a heavy price if they do the smallest damage to Iran, he stated. 

-- IRICA: Trade With OIC Tops $34bn

Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) report shows that Iran’s trade with member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reached 54.2 million tons worth $34.81 billion.
The report shows that Iran’s trade with member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, excluding crude oil exports, reached 54.2 million tons worth $34.81 billion during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Nov. 21), registering a 20.45% fall in terms of weight, but a 6.23% rise in terms of value compared with the corresponding period of last year.

-- Iran to Host Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024

The Athletic Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AAFIRI) on Monday announced that the country has been selected to host the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in 2024.
Hashem Siami, the chairman of the Athletic Federation of Islamic Republic of Iran said that the Asian Athletics Association agreed to allow Iran to host the event in 2024, but the exact time of the championships is not known yet.

-- Iranian VP, Saudi FM hold talks in Brazil

Mohammad Hosseini, the Vice-president of Iran, spoke with Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, in Brazil. Hosseini and bin Farhan first met on the sidelines of Lula da Silva's inauguration as the new president of Brazil.

The Iranian official emphasized the need for continuing the bilateral negotiations between Riyadh and Tehran to restore diplomatic ties. These negotiations began in Iraq with help from Iraqi authorities.

-- Car manufacturing rises 18% in 9 months on year

Car manufacturing in Iran increased 18 percent during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-December 21, 2022), as compared to the same period of time in the past year, according to the data released by the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade.

Based on the ministry’s data, 876,000 vehicles were manufactured in the nine-month period of this year, while the figure was 743,000 in the same time span of the previous year.

-- Historical site in western Iran on the verge of sinking

 Archaeologists have discovered a number of historical areas in the basin of the newly constructed dam of Qeshlaq Sahneh in the western province of Kermanshah.

However, the historical areas, dating back to the Parthian and Islamic eras, are in danger of sinking whenever the nearby dam’s water flows, ISNA quoted archaeologist Shaqayeq Hurshid as saying on Monday.
